Between classes, work, clubs, friends and family it’s difficult to find enough “me time” these days. At the Craft Studio, we understand your busy schedule, that’s why we’re open late into the evenings and Saturday afternoons. Take a break from your busy day and try a different kind of recreation at the Craft Studio.
Craft Studio Mission
The Craft Studio’s mission is to create opportunities for MU students and community members to explore arts and crafts in a causal and recreational environment. Craft Studio classes are offered for a variety of skill levels ranging from the novice explorer to the seasoned craftsman. Our Studio space is available for people of all abilities to explore art and engage in self-discovery. We maintain a Gallery to showcase the work of local artisans as well as providing new artists with their first exhibition opportunities. The ultimate goal of the Craft Studio is to help people overcome their fears about art and discover their inner creativity.

The Studio-
Our Studio is open to students and the community for group or independent work. If you’d like to start a project, but don’t have enough space or the right tools at home, we’ve got you covered. Our 23 sq ft. tables provide enough workspace for almost any project and with over 100 lockers available there’s more than enough room to store your project in between visits. The Pottery Room features 9 electric pottery wheels, a slab roller, two low-fire electric kilns, as well as an array of unique glazes. Our Woodshop is stocked with most standard woodworking machines including a table saw, band saws, a woodturning lathe, hand tools and more. In addition, we have tools for glass bead making, metalworking, stained glass and leather, just to name a few.
The Darkroom-
If you thought print photography was dead, think again. While digital may be trendy, it still won’t give you the high quality prints that film offers. Our Darkroom is one of the few left in Columbia that is open to the public. Craft Studio members may also use our chemicals (which will save you lots of money).
The Gallery-
Brady Gallery is open to both MU students and the public to showcase their art work. Please contact the Craft Studio for an application if you are interested in having an exhibition.
