Campus Involvement:

To ensure that you reach your full potential during your time here at MU, it will be important for you to be engaged and involved in activities inside and outside of the classroom. While recognizing the importance of pursuing a degree and focusing on academics, we also recognize the importance of participating in activities outside of the classroom. Out of class experiences will develop leadership, social and competency skills that will impact your success after you graduate from Mizzou. The skills that you gain from these various experiences WILL assist you in getting a good job after graduation…just ask any employer.

Each year, employers tell MU faculty and staff that they want to hire graduates who have demonstrated the ability to succeed with academics and extracurricular activities. It is primarily through out of class activities that you develop the interpersonal and communication skills necessary to be effective at a job following graduation. MU provides many opportunities for students to maximize their professional development. For example, you can

  1. Participate under faculty supervision in research projects related to a field of study.
  2. Gain valuable work skills in an internship
  3. Interact with professors, faculty and staff outside of the classroom with a campus job
  4. Join a university recognized student organization
  5. Stay physically, as well as mentally, active with recreation sports
  6. Give back to the city or campus with community service
  7. Pass on their knowledge and experience, and become a peer advisor
  8. Build lasting friendships and make social connections through campus activities

Look through the web sites of selected offices in Student Life to find the opportunity that best meets your needs and interests. Good luck, and let us know how we can assist you.
