Exam Dates
* The following exams are offered during day two of all freshmen sessions and two-day transfer session.
MPECA and MMPT: 11-12:30pm, 1-2:30pm
Students who have been pre-registered for Math 0110 and want to place into either
Math 1100 or Math 1120 will need to take this math placement exam. The exam
is offered twice daily. Prior to taking this exam, you should discuss it with
your academic advisor.
FLPT: 7:30-9:30am
Placement exams in Spanish, French and German are offered for those students
who wish to attempt to change their early-registration foreign language course.
This exam takes approximately 20 minutes and you may begin the test anytime
between 7:30-9:10am.
These tests are offered on day two to allow students to speak to their academic
department on day one during Divisional Orientation.
The MPECA and MMPT will also be offered during Fall Welcome, prior to the start
of classes.
Description of Exams
FLPT: Foreign Language Placement Exam
The Foreign Language Placement Test (FLPT) is an exam taken by University of Missouri students for placement in language classes (no credit is awarded until subsequent language classes are passed satisfactorily). FLPT is currently offered in Spanish, German and French. The FLPT is not timed; it is a multiple-choice adaptive computer based exam.
MMPT: Missouri Math Placement Test
The Missouri Math Placement Test (MMPT) is an internal, paper-based exam for incoming freshman and transferring students. The test consists of 40 multiple-choice questions and lasts 60 minutes. A score of 26 or higher is required to receive credit. Calculators are NOT allowed on this test.
MPECA: Math Placement Exam for College Algebra
The Missouri Placement Exam for College Algebra (MPECA) is an internal, paper-based exam. The test is designed to test the examinee's ability in algebra. To place in College Algebra ( Math 1100 or in Math 1120, a student must achieve on the MPECA a scaled score of 22 or above out of 47 possible scaled points. Students whose scaled score is 21 or below, place in Intermediate Algebra, or Math 110. The MPECA is 90-minute timed exam, consisting of 75 multiple choice questions, all equally weighted. No calculators are allowed on this exam and there is no penalty for guessing.
