Mission Statement: MARS is a group of men and women committed to fostering an egalitarian campus culture that respects the physical integrity and human rights of each individual. We hope to achieve this through collaborative efforts, educational programs and intentional conversations. MARS endeavors to create spaces for anti-sexist men to dialogue and provide outlets for the continued leadership, involvement, and voices of women and allies. While working to end the rape culture, we strive to model leadership based on egalitarian and participatory relationships. Relationship and sexual assault affects everyone, so we firmly believe that men as well as women have a role in creating a culture of equality where gendered violence is not tolerated.
Meeting Time: Wednesdays at 6 pm
Meeting Place: Relationship and Sexual Violence Prevention (RSVP) Center (formerly the Rape Education Office) 205 Brady Commons (NW corner of upstairs Brady, across from the computer lab)
Meeting Structure: During meetings, we plan MARS campus outreach and discuss issues surrounding gendered violence and social justice (e.g., what can men do to create an anti-sexist culture at MU, how are boys taught to be "real men" and what are the implications, is there such thing as feminist pornography?). Everyone regardless of gender or student status is invited to attend.
