Greeks Advocating the Mature Management of Alcohol (GAMMA) provides continuous education regarding health and safety topics affecting Greek students, particularly responsible alcohol use. GAMMA’s various educational opportunities throughout the year promote attitudinal and behavioral changes within the Greek community, while promoting and raising funds for our initiative, Greeks Raising the Bar.
Greek chapters represent over 7,500 students at Mizzou, and this group of students builds a unique community atmosphere that has thrived at Mizzou for years. Members of the Greek community are exposed to many different personalities, interests and challenges beneficial for social growth, while forming lifelong friendships. The bonds you develop with other members in your chapter are more than just friendships. Members support each other through challenges, and older brothers and sisters encourage and foster growth in new members. Friendships developed in college will continue to flourish even after you graduate.
Multicultural-based organizations include historically Latino, Latina and Asian sororities and fraternities with multicultural diversity and membership. Although some of these organizations are cultural- or identity-based, they are not identity-exclusive, and chapters are open to individuals of all identities and backgrounds.
The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is a coalition of the nine historically African-American Greek-letter fraternities and sororities. The organization boasts a diverse membership comprised of students, celebrities, corporate, political and community leaders. For over seventy-five years, members of the constituent Greek-letter organizations of NPHC have convened to discuss and address issues of mutual concern. The collective social and economic power of the NPHC has been a major source of change for the African-American community in America since its inception.
Students who are members of Greek letter organization under Interfraternity Council, Multicultural Greek Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council and Panhellenic Association are supported by the Office of Greek Life.
Panhellenic Association is the governing body of the National Panhellenic recognized sororities and associate sorority on our campus. An executive board works year-round to promote unity within the sororities through weekly delegation, frequent events for the whole PHA community, hosting Formal Recruitment each year, and more. The executive board works to promote the four Mizzou Panhellenic values, which are the common threads that unite all of our sorority women.
